February 2004« January 2004 | Main | March 2004 » Sunday, February 29, 2004I decided not to watch the Oscars. I was not that I was boycotting them or anything but as soon as I get wrapped up in a show that goes past my bedtime, I sunk and do not end up sleeping. That is why I end up taping my major shows. I do not like seeing "pink elephants" come 2:00 the next afternoon. Saturday, February 28, 2004Ok, so I tried the pilate's thing. My coworker was right. You definitely need more room that a few inches around the mat. Needless to say, I have a fairly large bruise on my knee for hitting my shelving unit. Oops. I guess I will have to pick a different spot. And for the record, the mat smells somewhat funny. I think it is the rubber. Friday, February 27, 2004It was another Friday that I was able to go straight home. Thank goodness as it has been a long week. Thursday, February 26, 2004I think I will try the pilate's thing. I have been thinking about it and looking at mats and things on the web. I think I can do it without spending too much extra money and without having to find a gym to take a class at. That would be a nice thing to do, if I had extra time. Wednesday, February 25, 2004It is nice to have the morning to myself. I have been able to get ready without worry of falling over my dad. Tuesday, February 24, 2004Poor Beaker. Apparently the water incident scared the feathers right off of him! He has become a practically bald bird! And I thought I was stressed... Monday, February 23, 2004So dad is off this week. His schedule has been pretty crazy the last few months so a bit of downtime is good for him. They sprayed Beaker with a water bottle today as he is a parrotolet that fears water, among other things. Poor little guy was so scared later on that he refused to come out of the cage. Sunday, February 22, 2004With the accountant out of the way, I finished up the paper and got that sent off. It has been a crazy class with a lot more work than usual. Not that I do not like to work, but sometimes it can be difficult to absorb all the material when there is so much to do. It was definitely a long day getting that paper pulled together and finished. Saturday, February 21, 2004My mom stopped by the store for me last night so I did not have to pick up juice. I did run by the grocery store this morning to get my usual lunch supplies and found a few cute Easter presents. I also had my accountant appointment this morning. I think I am going to end up owing money - expected to a degree. I hope it is not as much as I think. That would be a nice surprise. Now, I can focus on my paper that is due tomorrow. I finished my weekly class postings last night so that is one thing out of the way. Friday, February 20, 2004I guessed it has become meeting week or something. I attended an early morning meeting today to get a state-of-the-state. I arrived fairly early so I could have my pick of seats. It is never fun getting stuck up front. And, I was even adventurous. I tried a cheese danish. It was pretty good. I am starting to surprise even myself. Thursday, February 19, 2004I ended up staying a bit later than usual because I got invited to a meeting last minute. We will need to have a longer follow up meeting as an hour just was not enough time to cover all the material. Even though it was only an hour, there were a good number of people in the room and the heat was on (not something I am subjected to often), so it was fairly uncomfortable. That always makes things seem longer than they really are. Wednesday, February 18, 2004Tuesday, February 17, 2004This week is just going to be strange since even though it is Tuesday, it feels like a Monday. I am not going to have any idea what day of the week it is this week. Monday, February 16, 2004Happy Presidents Day!!! It was nice to have a day off. It has been awhile. It gave me the chance to catch up on sleep and recharge. Sunday, February 15, 2004I kept relaxing today but did finish up my weekly assignment for school. Alias was finally on today. I think there is going to be another long stretch until the next new episode. This is the one show that I will stay up a little past my bedtime for (and tape it too just in case). At least I do not have to get up tomorrow so I watched without worry. Saturday, February 14, 2004Friday, February 13, 2004Happy Valentine's day observed! One of my coworkers received a rose today but none of us are sure who sent it. Apparently 16 women in the company received a similar rose. Interesting. We could not figure out a connection between them. The people she guessed had sent it to her all said no. I wonder if we will ever figure it out. At least for a Friday the 13th, things were quiet. Thursday, February 12, 2004Tomorrow if Friday and I am looking forward to the weeked as it will be a 3-day weekend! I have not seen one of those in a while. Wednesday, February 11, 2004At least I did not get tailgated again today. That definitely put me in a better mood. I am still trying to figure out what people are thinking. Tuesday, February 10, 2004I am in such a ranting mode. Tailgaters make me so angry. Here is my thought. They are running late so they want you to drive faster so they can drive faster. Only problem was that I refused to drive any faster (was below the speed limit) as there was ice on the roads. As I said to one girl on the train, "if you want to hit a tree, go head. Do not take me with you". Not to mention, you will end up being later than you already are if there is 1) an accident or 2) you get a ticket. As far as I know, tailgating is something you can get a ticket for. If it is not on the list, it should be. You are creating a unnecessarily dangerous situation as you have no idea what could happen in front of me and you have no room to stop. I like my bumper intact, thank you! Monday, February 09, 2004You really have to be careful getting your car inspected (at least in my state). They check the lights (makes sense) but seem to leave them on even when it is sunny outside. So, for example, if you have a kind person who does not drive your car often (my mom) take your car inspected, you may end up with a dead battery. Oops! That turned into a mess and half as she got stuck at the library. That really made for a monday. The funny part was that this is the second time she has taken my car for inspection and left the lights on. At least last time, they were only on for 10 minutes. I think I needed a new battery anyway. Sunday, February 08, 2004I handed in both school assignments today. I finished with a bit of time to spare. I did sneak out to store to pick up Valentine's Day cards for next weekend. I found a few more little additions to include too. I am feeling pretty accomplished for one day and I can even breathe a bit. Saturday, February 07, 2004I got a lot done today. I ran my usual errands early in the day and made excellent progress on my school assignments. It was a long day but I am on a good path. I find it helpful to work for a bit, do a quick chore and go back to working. I think that actually helps me keep focused without going cross-eyed. I am sure there is some psychological explanation for that. Friday, February 06, 2004I had a feeling that I would need to leave early today. I was worried about the flooding. It did not get as bad as it could have but it was enough to close at least one road I normally take. That was enough to send me packing. I really did not know if I would run into any other barriers. Luckily I did not but did run into a lot of traffic with people being rerouted. At least it was Friday. Thursday, February 05, 2004Happy Pay Day! It was a pretty quiet day and I made good progress on a few work projects. Go figure, I have three meetings tomorrow and the weather is supposed to be rough. Maybe for the rest of the winter I should plan around the weather reports. The news show I watch daily now does 7-day forecasts. That should give me plenty of time to schedule meetings - or get them rescheduled :) Wednesday, February 04, 2004I really was going to try and get my car inspected tonight. Two years ago I nearly forgot and had to go running to the DMV at nearly the last minute. My home train was running late so I did not make it in time. My mom offered to take my car for me. THANKS! If she does not have the opportunity to, I will try again next Wednesday. I have a booked schedule for Saturday otherwise I might have considered that. Than again, that is probably one of the worst days to go. Granted, I could probably take my textbook and read. Tuesday, February 03, 2004Boy oh boy did my train ride in this morning turn into a mess. The best I can figure out was that it was having a different crew and them not knowing the route 100%. That happens, but it does make for a messy moment or two such as unintended station stops. That just confused everyone. Monday, February 02, 2004I think I made some good progress on my school assignment today. I also found out the next one is due a week earlier than I expected. UGH! I think, if I can get the first assignment squared away over the next few days, I should be able to complete both by Sunday night without needing an extension. The professor did offer one should I need it. I really do not like asking for extensions unless I really have to and then I try to beat that date anyway. I know, I am crazy! Sunday, February 01, 2004Super Bowl Sunday. I spent the day working on school assignments. It looks like I will need to rework my last assignment as well. I will have to try and find more example of "critical success factors" and "key performance indicators" if I am going to figure it all out. I just cannot figure out why they seem so hard to find. |
